Our 242 acoustic panels are an excellent choice for early reflection points, flutter echo, or general decay in a room. Every room has it’s own size and shape, so we have created 3 basic shapes for 242 panels, as well as custom sizes to fit your space.

Ideal in 2-channel listening rooms, recording studios, restaurants, hotel conference rooms and lobbies, home theaters, and sanctuaries.

242 acoustic panels are made with a rigid frame for easy hanging from a wall or ceiling, and includes an air gap for added absorption. The acoustic panel’s properties come from the core, which is made from 100% recycled materials that include no formaldehyde or urea formaldehyde.

The GIK Acoustics 242 Acoustic Panel is a professionally constructed velocity sound absorber with a rigid core and is a broadband acoustic panel in nature – meaning it absorbs and reduces sound throughout the entire frequency range. 242 Acoustic Panels are made with GIK’s patented two-frame system allowing sound to be absorbed from the sides while maintaining a crisp, sharp edge. The 242 Acoustic Panel has a built-in air gap which not only increases low end absorption, but allows the panel to hang truly flush on the wall using an integrated wire on the back. Other acoustic panels are constructed as mere fabric wrapped over rigid fiberglass or a wooden frame which does not allow the proper space between the absorption materials and the wall and makes it nearly impossible to truly flush-mount.

The 242 Acoustic Panel is ideal when used in combination with other GIK Acoustics products. We recommend mounting GIK Acoustics Bass Traps in each corner and other low-end trouble spots. The 242 Acoustic Panel can be mounted at the primary and secondary reflection points on the walls and as a cloud on the ceiling. This combination is an effective way to fine-tune a room.

Broadband treatments offer great performance with an attractive price and when coupled with diffusion and scattering, can give your room a completely balanced sound throughout, without over-dampening high frequencies.

It’s recommended to place acoustic panels on the ceiling to reduce floor-to-ceiling slap echo, control height modes and eliminate early reflections. But mounting 242 Acoustic Panels, 244 Bass Traps or Monster Bass Traps overhead can be tricky. We’ve taken the difficulty out of the equation with our Cloud Mounting Brackets©. Not only are they easy to use, but at $15.00 per set they’re easy on your budget. It’s the perfect solution for acoustic panel or bass trap ceiling mounting. BOOM STAND BRACKETS

GIK Acoustics Boom Stand Brackets sq Instead of mounting the panel on the wall, we offer our Boom Stand Brackets. Installing these brackets on the panel allows it to attach to any boom stand turning your 242 Bass Trap with FlexRange Technology into a gobo or a portable vocal booth. The tests were carried out in the large reverberation room at the University of Salford (Manchester England). The room has been designed with hard surfaces and non-parallel walls to give long empty room reverberation times with uniform decays. It has the shape of a truncated wedge. In addition, 11 panels, each 1.22m x 2.44m, were hung in the room to improve the diffusivity of the sound field. The test sample was placed in the centre of the floor. The excitation signal comprised wide band random noise played into the room via a loudspeaker system mounted in a cabinet facing a corner. The sound was monitored at each of 5 microphone positions. The room is 7.4m long x ~6.6m wide x 4.5m high.

GIK Acoustics products are beyond simple do-it-yourself panels that are found on the market today. We start with only the highest-quality materials that will not sag or leak over time, then we build every panel by hand employing a unique two-frame system.

Unlike other companies who use inexpensive materials, GIK Acoustics panels are crafted with quality insulation material, fabrics and hardwood plywoods. We start with absorptive insulation material that is intended for room acoustics – not cheap mineral wool whose main purpose is to insulate a ship’s engine room.

We then use carefully selected hardwood plywoods – not cheap imports – to construct our frames. The difference and chief advantage is dimensional stability. Crossbanded layers and balanced construction mean that hardwood plywood won’t shrink, swell or warp as much as lumber. To finish our panels we offer an array of fine fabrics – from our standard 9 options to the full line of Guilford of Maine panel fabrics.

GIK Acoustics products are not only Greensafe, but they carry a Class A fire rating which means we continue to provide our clients with the safest most effective products available. The Class A fire rating means that GIK Acoustics treatments have received the highest rating possible under the ASTM E84, a test used by code officials and regulatory agencies in the acceptance of interior finish materials.
