Performance You Can Trust

Every GIK product is tested at the world-renowned University of Salford, following BS EN ISO 354:2003 standards. This scientific approach not only ensures complete transparency in how our products perform, but also drives our R&D process. So every panel, bass trap, or diffuser we release is engineered to deliver results you can trust.

How to Use

Position gobo panels at early reflection points on the side walls to improve stereo imaging.

Use additional panels behind the listening position to absorb unwanted rear wall reflections.

Pair with corner bass traps and possibly diffusion to optimize low-frequency response overall balance for better audio production.

Place them around drum kits to control reverb and minimize unwanted room reflections, and also control the sound of the drums inside the room for other musicians.

Arrange them around guitar amplifiers to focus the direct sound capture while controlling room tone. You can use multiple mics, close to the amps for a good direct sound, and also with room mics to capture the ambience. You can then combine them for the perfect sound in the mix.

Materials
Camira Cara Fabrics

GIK is excited to use the Camira Cara fabric line standard in all our products. The Camira fabric will look familiar to fans of Guilford of Maine fabrics, similar to their FR701 line but with different color options. With a richer aesthetic and tactile feel and wider range of available colors compared to our previous standard offerings, Camira Cara allows every product to look as good as it performs.

Sustainability

GIK Acoustics has long prioritized sustainability as a guiding principle. We carefully select materials that balance acoustic performance with environmental responsibility, sourcing from suppliers who share our commitment to reducing waste and carbon impact. Our products use durable, recyclable components that minimize landfill waste while maintaining the highest acoustic standards.

Health & Safety

Health and safety are built into every GIK product. All materials—including fabrics, cores, and wood elements—are formaldehyde-free, low-VOC, and independently tested for indoor air quality. This ensures our treatments are safe for studios, homes, schools, and offices alike. We believe superior acoustics should never come at the expense of well-being, which is why our products are made with clean, non-toxic materials that protect both the people who use them and the spaces where they’re installed.

Your Space, Your Rules.

Whether you’re looking for sound absorption in a home studio, recording space, or live performance venue, the FreeStand Acoustic Panel provides an effective, portable solution. With superior materials and construction, easy placement, and high NRC performance, these studio gobo panels offer an unparalleled combination of functionality and sound control.

Improved Sound Clarity for Home Studios & Recording Setups

For home studio users, controlling sound waves within a confined space is crucial. Portable gobo panels can be positioned around microphones to reduce unwanted room reflections, helping to capture dry, direct sound for vocal recordings and instrument tracking. Unlike foam-based products, these gobos more efficiently absorb a broad range of frequencies.

Portable & Adaptable Sound Treatment

Traditional acoustic panels require permanent mounting, which isn’t always an option in multi-purpose or rental spaces. The FreeStand Acoustic Gobo offers the advantage of easy mobility, allowing users to place it wherever needed without installation hassles. Whether used for recording vocals, instruments, or podcasts, these gobo panels provide professional-grade sound absorption and noise control.

Enhance Your Acoustic Setup

With a 2-inch thickness, these acoustic gobos are optimized for mid to high-frequency absorption, helping to eliminate flutter echoes and improve sound quality in small rooms. Their sleek profile makes them a bit less visually distracting, and they are easier to move around as needed.

FAQ

What makes the FreeStand Acoustic Panel different from foam panels?

Unlike acoustic foam, which primarily absorbs high frequencies, the FreeStand Acoustic Panel utilizes high quality absorbent materials for proven GIK performance. These versatile and convenient panels provide better broadband sound absorption all the way down into lower frequencies, resulting in a more balanced sound.

Can FreeStand panels be used for soundproofing?

While these panels help reduce reflections and control noise, they are not designed for full soundproofing. For effective soundproofing, structural modifications such as adding mass or decoupling walls are required.

Are these panels suitable for a home studio?

Yes! FreeStand panels are perfect for home studio setups. Their flexibility allows users to reconfigure their room treatment as needed without permanent installation. In most cases for an audio space you’d get better results from the 4” FreeStand Bass Traps.

How many FreeStand panels do I need?

The number of panels required depends on the room size and intended use. A typical isolation booth setup may require 3-4 panels, while a home studio mixing room might need 4-6 panels along with a full complement of bass traps and diffusion for optimal sound.
