Materials
Camira Cara Fabrics

GIK is excited to use the Camira Cara fabric line standard in all our products. The Camira fabric will look familiar to fans of Guilford of Maine fabrics, similar to their FR701 line but with different color options. With a richer aesthetic and tactile feel and wider range of available colors compared to our previous standard offerings, Camira Cara allows every product to look as good as it performs.

Sustainability

GIK Acoustics has long prioritized sustainability as a guiding principle. We carefully select materials that balance acoustic performance with environmental responsibility, sourcing from suppliers who share our commitment to reducing waste and carbon impact. Our products use durable, recyclable components that minimize landfill waste while maintaining the highest acoustic standards.

Health & Safety

Health and safety are built into every GIK product. All materials—including fabrics, cores, and wood elements—are formaldehyde-free, low-VOC, and independently tested for indoor air quality. This ensures our treatments are safe for studios, homes, schools, and offices alike. We believe superior acoustics should never come at the expense of well-being, which is why our products are made with clean, non-toxic materials that protect both the people who use them and the spaces where they’re installed.

GoboBlocks or SoundBlocks? We’ll Help You Decide.

GoboBlocks are built with an internal sound barrier for maximum isolation—perfect when mic bleed and spill control are your top priorities. SoundBlocks, on the other hand, are designed for optimized bass trapping and room treatment. If you’re focused on improving your mix environment, they’re the way to go. The best part? We offer both—so you never have to compromise.

Not sure which one fits your space? Our Free Acoustic Advice service is here for you. Talk to one of our experts and get a custom plan tailored to your setup, goals, and workflow. Whether it’s isolation, treatment, or a bit of both, we’ll help you build the right solution.

One side controls the sound. The other shapes it.

Every GoboBlock features a dual-sided design—with one fabric-covered absorptive side and one reflective side with an optional diffuser plate. This gives you total control over how sound behaves in your space. Need to tame reverb and tighten up a mic zone? Face the absorptive side inward. Want to keep the energy in the room or add a bit of natural diffusion? Flip it around.

Whether you’re isolating instruments, shaping room tone, or balancing live and dead zones during a session, GoboBlocks give you creative control at every angle. It’s like having two tools in one—built for tracking rooms, mixing spaces, and any session that demands flexibility without compromise.

Acoustic Design Meets Practical Engineering

Like the original SoundBlocks, each GoboBlock is built with a sturdy frame, absorptive insulation, and optional Amplitude plate face designs to balance diffusion and absorption. The recessed faceplate ensures a polished appearance, while upgraded clasps allow units to connect securely for stacking and transport. No hinges are required—GoboBlocks stack easily and move independently in a clean, stable form factor.

GoboBlocks are modular, portable, and designed to be rearranged on the fly, making them ideal for evolving studio layouts or hybrid spaces. Whether you need a quick soundproof barrier, a vocal isolation wall, or a flexible way to separate players in an ensemble session, GoboBlocks deliver pro-level results without permanent installation.

Multiple Configurations Available

GoboMode is a 2x2 configuration of four GoboBlocks, 4' tall and 4' wide.

FAQ

How do GoboBlocks differ from SoundBlocks?

While both use the same modular design and high-performance absorption, Gobo Blocks include an internal barrier layer that adds mass and blocks sound transmission between sides. This makes a major difference in recording environments where multiple microphones are used in the same room. By reducing bleed between performers, engineers gain cleaner individual tracks, greater control during mixdown, and more flexibility in postproduction. The same barrier also makes Gobo Blocks useful beyond music—providing effective noise separation for offices, classrooms, or shared work areas.

What configurations and finishes are available for GoboBlocks?

GoboBlocks are available in four configurations to suit different spaces and applications. GoboMode and GoboMode XL are freestanding, movable units standing about 4 feet tall, ideal for creating flexible isolation between seated performers, drum kits where line of sight is needed, and amplifiers. GoboWall and GoboWall XL extend the same modular concept to 6 feet tall, providing greater coverage for standing performers, taller instruments, or workstations in an office environment. Every configuration is available in three elegant finishes, Beech Noir, White Hot, and Dusky Fawn, offering a furniture-grade look that complements both professional studios and modern offices.

Are GoboBlocks easy to move and maintain?

Yes. They’re built with integrated feet and a sturdy base for stability and portability. The durable fabric and wood surfaces can be cleaned with standard non-abrasive methods, making them a practical, long-term solution for dynamic environments.

Can GoboBlocks be used in Office environments?

Absolutely! Though they were designed for profession recording studios, they also excel as dividers, visibly and acoustically, between workstations in open concept offices. They are freestanding so you can surround each workstation with them to improve isolation and acoustics in that environment, enhancing focus and productivity.
