Performance You Can Trust

Every GIK product is tested at the world-renowned University of Salford, following BS EN ISO 354:2003 standards. This scientific approach not only ensures complete transparency in how our products perform, but also drives our R&D process. So every panel, bass trap, or diffuser we release is engineered to deliver results you can trust.

Patented FlexRange® Technology

The standard Soffit Bass Trap is a broadband absorber, absorbing both bass (good for high end speakers and subwoofers) and higher midrange and treble. Or, you can add Range Limiters for even better bass absorption, with less mid/treble absorption for a more neutral-sounding room for larger installations. Or you can add a Scatter Plate under the fabric, which reduces mid/treble absorption and adds scattering & diffusion.

Materials
Camira Cara Fabrics

GIK is excited to use the Camira Cara fabric line standard in all our products. The Camira fabric will look familiar to fans of Guilford of Maine fabrics, similar to their FR701 line but with different color options. With a richer aesthetic and tactile feel and wider range of available colors compared to our previous standard offerings, Camira Cara allows every product to look as good as it performs.

Sustainability

GIK Acoustics has long prioritized sustainability as a guiding principle. We carefully select materials that balance acoustic performance with environmental responsibility, sourcing from suppliers who share our commitment to reducing waste and carbon impact. Our products use durable, recyclable components that minimize landfill waste while maintaining the highest acoustic standards.

Health & Safety

Health and safety are built into every GIK product. All materials—including fabrics, cores, and wood elements—are formaldehyde-free, low-VOC, and independently tested for indoor air quality. This ensures our treatments are safe for studios, homes, schools, and offices alike. We believe superior acoustics should never come at the expense of well-being, which is why our products are made with clean, non-toxic materials that protect both the people who use them and the spaces where they’re installed.

Care Instructions
Camira Cara Fabric

Vacuum regularly. Wipe with a damp cloth using soap and water or use proprietary upholstery shampoo. For deeper cleaning use bleach or alcohol.

Veneer Finishes

Clean with a soft cloth or soft brush, lightly dampened with kukewarm PH-neutral, soapy water. Do not use solvents or chemical cleaners, but cleaning can be done with alcohol-based cleaners. Finally, wipe with a damp cloth afterward.

Overview

The GIK Acoustics Soffit Bass Trap © is a full 17″ deep and features our patented FlexRange Technology for unmatched performance across the frequency spectrum. It has been extensively tested both in laboratories and real-world rooms, proving to be far more effective in the 40Hz to 100Hz range than our popular Tri-Trap Corner Bass Tra © due to its larger size. It also controls high frequencies smoothly, offering true broadband performance from 40Hz to 5000Hz.

Its unique square shape and large surface area make it ideal for corner bass trap installations or anywhere in the room where space allows. The more Soffits you place in your space, the better your low-end performance and frequency response will be, both audibly and via measurements and graphs.

Built for any room

This is not just a tool for studio bass traps or control rooms—it works beautifully in home theaters, living rooms, small rooms, and hi-fi systems where acoustic precision matters, particularly in systems with large woofers and subwoofers and powerful amps to drive them.

Soffit Trap Placement

Soffit Traps can be stacked in the corners as full-height, free-standing units to absorb low frequencies effectively. Lining the rear walls helps control modal ringing, and pairing them with diffusors on the back wall further enhances the acoustic balance. Installing bass traps along the front wall improves integration with subwoofers, and leaving a small air gap behind them can sometimes boost performance. They can also be placed on side walls or ceiling corners where bass buildup is present, addressing both low-frequency issues and early reflection points. When it comes to controlling room modes, soffit-style traps are particularly powerful, as they are among the few acoustic treatments capable of managing the low frequencies that cause boominess, phase smear, and loss of clarity.

The Best Corner Bass Trap Available

When space permits, you can't do any better than Soffits in your corners. The square shape is a good match for high end rooms that will have thick panels next to the soffits on the walls, for world-class low frequency control.

FAQ

Should I use Soffit Bass Traps in the corners of my room?

Absolutely. If you have the space for Soffits, you can’t do better than these devices in a corner. Their 17" depth gives unmatched broadband bass absorption, reaching deeper into the low frequencies than smaller traps. Corner placement maximizes their performance, making them the best option for controlling the deep bass that defines modern music.

When should I add the Range Limiter option?

The Range Limiter shifts absorption emphasis toward the deepest bass (under 100Hz) while reducing absorption in the upper bass, midrange, and treble. It’s a smart choice if your room already has plenty of mid/high control and you want extra focus on the sub-bass. That said, be careful—using too many Range Limiters can leave the room under-treated above 100Hz. If in doubt, onboard with a GIK Designer and they can guide you.

How much space do I need to install Soffit Bass Traps?

Each Soffit is 17" deep, so you’ll need enough clearance to accommodate their size. They’re designed for rooms where deep bass performance is prioritized and we can use the thickest panels. If you can dedicate the footprint, the payoff is the best low-end control available.

How do Soffit Bass Traps compare to smaller GIK bass traps?

Smaller devices like Tri Trap Corner Bass Traps or thicker Panel Bass Traps are excellent options where space is limited, but none go as deep as the Soffits. If you want the most powerful, broadband bass control possible, Soffits stand at the top of the lineup. They’re the reference choice for mastering engineers, high-end studios, and serious listening rooms.
