Using diffusion and absorption at the same time with GIK Acoustics’ Evolution PolyFusor and Alpha Series acoustic panels.

Studio drummer Dylan Wissing (Alicia Keys, John Legend, Drake) of Indie Studio Drummer demonstrates the sonic changes in drum recordings by adding diffusion and absorption: GIK Acoustics’ Evolution PolyFusors and Alpha Series Panels. Hear the room without any acoustic room treatments, then the difference with each product added, and finally hear the results with a combination.

Dylan uses Alpha Series panels with the 1D scattering plate, in black veneered wood with standard Red GIK fabric. And he’s using the Evolution PolyFusor in standard Red fabric with black caps.

This video is a great follow up to our other articles surrounding the concept of diffusion and is a practical application. Studios and listening rooms typically use diffusion to liven up the room and prevent overdampening. Getting this quality sound beats the price of a new expensive dynamic condenser microphone or time consuming equipment any day!

GIK Acoustics Evolution PolyFusor diffusor absorber

The GIK Acoustics Evolution PolyFusor© is a combination of a polycylindrical diffusor and an absorber merged into a single unit. Polycylindrical diffusors, or polyfusors, are known for their excellent frequency dispersion characteristics over a very wide range. It has a curved front plate which allows for virtually perfect spatial dispersion, while simultaneously allowing lower frequency waves to pass through to the cavity of absorption behind it.

Alpha Series Absorber/Diffusor Acoustic Panels and Bass Traps by GIK Acoustics

The Alpha Series panels beautifully combine absorption with diffusion in a binary scattering sequence. With the Alpha Series, customers can enhance any room both aesthetically and acoustically with superior quality, high-performing, stylish acoustic panels and bass traps.
